I just moved to a new hosting service. I also lost my latest updates. The most recent backup I had was from November. I still have my updates on my 1U server but it isn’t powered up at the moment. Oh well, I’ll get around to restoring the data eventually…

I received the following email messages yesterday. Thankfully, my anti-virus software caught and quarantined them. Sometimes I think a good email antivirus program could be written by simply analyzing the text of the email message; these guys always have deplorable grammar.

The character arcs were fairly well developed. The story overall has mix of tragedy, procedure and psychology but very little compelling mystery. The most interesting part of the story, a case where 2 children went missing in the woods ~20 years before the story starts, went unresolved; it left me feeling as though the book ended abruptly with a lazy conclusion (meant to be intriguing).

PythonTreemap
My PyQt treemap example. It is based on the original work from the University of Maryland/HCIL:

I implemented the squarified, ordered and slice layouts. Works for my needs…

I just received this from one of my friends in Toronto. A total Nigerian scam email:
“Sorry I didn’t inform you about my traveling to England UK for a program, I’m presently in England and am having some difficulties here because I misplaced my wallet on my way to the hotel where my other valuable things were kept. presently my passport and my things are been held down by the hotel management pending when I make payment. I will like you to assist me with a loan of $2345 dollas to sort-out my Hotel bills and to get myself back home.. I will appreciate whatever you can afford to assist me with,I’ll Refund the money back to you as soon as I return, let me know if you can be of any help? ASAP. “
I searched online to find that this thing has been making the rounds since early 2008. It turns out that people unwittingly give up their email account authentication details to a phisher – usually as a reply to some sort of false account verification request. Then the ‘hacker’ hijacks the user’s account and sends the above message to all of the contacts in the user’s address book. Beware.
